PROJECT: Architectural Representation of Historical Centers in Transylvania
Arch. Szabolcs István Guttman presents in RIFF his vision about the architectural “representation” of the historical centers in Transylvania. The accent will lay on the 2015 state of the façades of the buildings in these centers.
Arch. Szabolcs István Guttmann was born in 1961 at Cluj, graduated from „Ion Mincu” Institute of Architecture and Systematization in Bucharest in 1981, and from 1990 to 1992 he specialised in protecting the historical monuments and sites within Technical University în Budapest. From 2002 to 2008 he was the Chief Architect of Sibiu city. Since 2009, he has been the President of the Romanian Order of Architects, Transylvania Branch, with headquarters in Cluj. Since 2014, he has been the President of Regional Commission of Historical Monuments – Cluj, Bistrița-Năsăud, Sălaj counties.
In 2001 he was a founder member of Romanian Order of Architects.
Since 2005, arch. Szabolcs István Guttman has been a member of Registry of Urban Planners in Romania, with signature right for coordination of the urban planning documentation on GUP, RUP and DUP, respectively protection and development of the built patrimony.
Since 2006, he has been an expert certified by the Ministry of Culture in the following fields: architectural restoration, urban planning, parks and gardens, research of historical monuments, investigation studies, research and inventory of historical monuments, and a project manager of the complex, in charge with execution of works, controlling and monitoring the behavior in time of the historical monuments.
Since 2013 he has been a PhD in history within Lucian Blaga University ofSibiu, with the thesis ”Historical Center of Sibiu in Postmodern Age”, under the coordination of dr. acad. arch. Paul Niedermaier.
Arch. Szabolcs István Guttmann is a visiting professor at Ion Mincu University Bucharest, department of restoration in Sibiu, Babeș Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, Faculty of History and Sociology, Technical University of Cluj, Faculty of Architecture, and University of Oradea, Faculty of Architecture.
